Outdoor cooking.

Over the Easter break hubby and I planned to do nothing but relax as we have been working so hard on our renovations and both have tennis elbow, Bob in both elbows.
So we slept in ............ took the dogs for a walk..............watched a movie........
and then got bored......................

So he headed off to cut up firewood................................
And i got cooking............................

This year i have really enjoyed experimenting with pickling, a great way to use  the glut from the plot or produce from friends which included apples, corn and zucchini.

I also have an obsession with curry at present so i decided to use up my butternut pumpkin and the last of my red onions along with some zucchini and apples and made Indian Spiced Chutney.

Our new kitchen is installed except the
stove and yes the kitchen sink !!!    so I'm
still cooking on the front veranda  which is really
nice on a beautiful sunny day and the bonus is i can be in the garden and just check on whats cooking every now and then.

And i get to wave to the neighbors as they drive past........    not to sure what they think........

Friends dropped in ...............

Cups of tea...................

News to share.............

Laughter.................

I love to give my produce to friends to take home and enjoy.................

.....well i hope it tastes ok.

  1. It's always fun working from a makeshift kitchen! I remember early on in our married life we moved into my in-laws basement for about 6 months. We cooked on a hot plate and washed dishes in the bathroom sink!!

    1. Now that sounds like fun! I have enjoyed cooking outside and plan to have a small sink and cupboard on one side of the veranda(where there's less wind)which will come in handy for cooking/gardening.

  2. I love the idea of a kitchen on the front verandah - well actually I might qualifiy that slightly, I love the idea of it when the weather is warm - it must have been a bit nippy out there the last few days.

  3. Ha, you must look funny to the neighbours. Lovely on a nice day. I went without a kitchen sink when we were renovating for a few months too. Wasn't much fun with a new baby though. Dishes and baby and everything got washed in a laundry trough.

  4. Love the kitchen Andrea and the pickles look great. I bet your friends love getting a little treat to take home with them. I gave some of my spicy fig and orange jam away to family at easter, sadly I dropped the last jar which I was going to keep. I still have a bit in the fridge that wasn't enough to fill a final jar, so I'll just have to savour that.
