I have tried to grow them over the years but with little success and had given up, this summer I was determined to try again........................
The first of my Bonica Eggplants, this one just on 700gms
My first ever Red Peppers!!!! I'm excited!!!
Ok so what was different this time?
I did fuss over the seedlings giving them a feed every couple of weeks, they were mulched well and given a good soak of water every 3 days.
The season was unusually hot and dry.
The plot was totally enclosed with a wire fence for protection from rabbits.
HARVEST MONDAY is hosted by DAPHNE at Daphnes Dandelions , a day to share what you have harvested, cooked or preserved from your plot.
Congratulations! I think the nice warm summer has really suited the eggplants and peppers hasn't it?
ReplyDeleteyep they certainly love the hot sun!!
DeleteYes, congratulations on your successful harvests! It's all really beautiful and I'm sure it's delicious too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm going to cook that beautiful eggplant tonight for dinner!
DeleteI always grow peppers and never manage more than just a few per plant. I think some of us have certain plants that are harder for us for some reason. Your harvest looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes I think your right, i dont have much luck with carrots!
DeleteYou have reminded me that persistence pays off, in growing veggies and everything else as well! I'm glad you got those red peppers. They are one of my favorite things from the garden. That's a nice big eggplant too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, now I'm going to try to change my luck with peas!!
DeleteWell keep doing what you were doing because it obviously works! :D
ReplyDeleteLove to see these summer vegetables. Still a long ways away for us in our growing region, but I can live vicariously through your harvests.
Oh that eggplant is superb. We have mini capsicums and chillies too, the hot summer definitely suited some veggies more.
