My last Harvest Monday post for the year includes two Surprises, but firstly a big THANK-YOU to
DAPHNE for hosting her weekly Harvest Monday , although I have missed quite a few weeks I've enjoyed following and picking up gardening, preserving and cooking tips along the way.
The first surprise was my Green dragon broccoli ready to harvest after a very long 5 months.........
My second surprise this week was nearly a disaster as I was trimming back all my rosemary hedges using electric hedge trimmers, when I came across a well hidden little wren nest ......
I have been checking each day to make sure all is ok and today the first of the chicks has hatched, little mouth wide open waiting for a feed.........................
Meanwhile dad announces the new arrival..................
Happy Gardening !!!
Happy Christmas!!!
So glad the wren next was okay. I hope they make it to maturity okay. Your broccoli is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe broccoli was much enjoyed after such a long wait !
DeleteYour broccoli looks great and I'm glad the wrens survived the whipper snipper - what an exciting find in your garden!
ReplyDeleteThe wrens keep us entertained but I thought their nest was somewhere else (might be two families we have a very big garden)so this nest was a big surprise!!
DeleteAnd that looks like a beautiful stand of artichokes he's perched on!
ReplyDeleteYes they are impressive and so drought hardy !!
DeleteI love blue wrens - they bounced around on mum & dad's lawn and I never get tired of watching them. Very cool birds.
ReplyDeleteThey are my favorite birds too ! second and third chick has hatched today.
DeleteHi Kathy thanks for the invite !
