Last
night we went to bed with the sound of rain on the roof and amazingly
it was still raining when we woke this morning.........14mls yepeee!!
So
this afternoon I spent collecting cow/horse manure to dig through the
damp soil in the veggie beds, to my surprise there are lots of tiny
lettuce seedlings popping up everywhere !
Oh
I just can't wait to plant out seedlings and this years garlic crop!
The
past week has been one of harvesting the last of....
The
last of the delicious apples, their small but tasty and are just the
perfect for morning and afternoon tea, not the same as
Mulberry/rhubarb muffins but less calories when your counting!
The
last of the Basil went into lentil and veggie soup.
The
last of the Beans went into the soup too.
The
last of the tomatoes into pasta sause.
There
was also a first ! Green and Red chillies!
I've
only picked and used one green one as I love looking at them in their
pots! Erk, I'm thinking after the last couple of cold nights I may be better off picking them all!
And
another surprise.... self sown coriander seedlings in the chilli
pot!!
For more surprises in the garden head over to Dahpnes and see what others are harvesting from around the Globe.
Gorgeous pile of apples. I love it when there are surprise volunteers in the garden, you will be harvesting lettuce and coriander soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norma, we have got through that pile of apples pretty quick!
DeleteI want to try garlic this year, but we're going away for a month soon and I don't think it'll survive in the pot without my help. Shame.
ReplyDeleteI think you should give garlic a go, it really is petty hardy and a month isn't that long to garlic as it takes about 8/9 months to grow. I have plenty of organic garlic ready to plant out if you would like some, just send me an email.
DeleteYour apples look beautiful. I am something of an apple fan and as much as like muffins I reckon the apples are the bigger treat.
ReplyDeleteThey have been a great Autumn treat, lovely stewed with cereal and yogurt for breaky!
DeleteWhat a nice fall harvest of apples, peppers, late tomatoes and beans. Glad to hear you got some much needed rain. We have had more than enough of it around here this spring, so I am celebrating that we have a week of sunny warmish weather ahead of us this week.
ReplyDeleteOh do enjoy that sunshine.....
DeleteRain... I'd like some, we haven't had our autumn break yet! Beautiful apples, I bet they crunch.
ReplyDeleteYes the rain was lovely, hope you get your Autumn break soon!
Delete14mls how wonderful....rain on the roof at night is wonderful to listen too.
ReplyDeleteAnother great harvest and nice surprise finding the Coriander seedlings.
Love the stuff but it does go to see in the warm weather unfortunately.
Must try and grow it in the cooler months.
