Monday's Harvest

Produce harvested from the plot this week has been very low,
a few leaves of chard, lettuce, parsley and one cabbage.

Total of 18 eggs from the Girls.

For interest I thought you may like to see my new veggie plot its about 6 months old. Notice the tap/hose on the left hand side , imagine my surprise and excitement when i found hubby installing it one afternoon!!!!
 Makes watering so much easier...............
We had the dam cleaned out and enlarged to provide plenty of water over the summer months for the plot and new fruit trees.

Only problem being that I keep enlarging the garden which is pretty easy as the fence is made up of wire panels held together with cable ties and steel pickets.

Sometime in the near future a more robust and higher fence will be built to keep out our early morning visitors.............................

View from the bedroom window, one of a mob of kangaroos enjoying the                        new shoots of grass emerging from the side of dam.

To see what others are harvesting from their plots head over to Daphne's
a world of wonderful produce, recipes and ideas......................

  1. Greetings from Sunny California, where the idea of kangaroos in the garden seems very exotic, indeed!

  2. Mum & Dad have a resident kangaroo too but it leaves the veggies alone. They used to have wallabies come and they would nibble everything.

    1. Iv'e heard that wallabies can be quite destructive but have only see one or two in the more sheltered bush around our paddock, closer to the house open grassland with native Kangaroo and Wallaby grasses, so no wonder we have visitors.

  3. Okay I know you probably see kangaroos on a regular basis, but if I woke up and saw one out in my yard I'd be doing the happy dance! That is just so awesome! One day, one day we will get down to your neck of the woods!

  4. We do love watching the antics of 'our" mob, joey jumping back into pouch or the older ones boxing, just don't want them to discover the veggie plot !!

  7. Ahh yes a tap close by would be exciting, dragging a watering can back and forth although great exercise is not much fun at all. Your girls have been busy laying you lots of eggs, you'll be kept busy baking with all of them:)
